Please recommend a fun First Person Shooter with a good player base

Just like the title says any fun FPS with a good player base.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Grab a Tribes: Ascend beta key (http://www.gamespot.com/event/codes/tribes-ascend/) and play it. It's going to be the next big FPS on the PC when it releases. It's currently in beta but all your progress will carry over to the full game...oh and it's F2P.Croag821

TF2 was pretty entertaining for a while, but I don't know it ultimately feels

rather pointless in it's nature. Now I only really resort to playing it when

I want to kill some time.

If you're looking for a arena shooter then I would recommend either Quake Live or Unreal Tournament 24k,

UT is the more polished of the two but Quake has arguably better deathmatch gameplay.

I recommend tribes ascend. I watched the nowplaying and it looked amazing. But then I tried to dwnload the beta and i did but it doesnt work and always freezes up my comp. Can anyone help me? Please!!! I REALLY WANT TO PLAY IT!
