Planetside 2- Why arent you playing?

I've had a real fun time with this game. I dont play all that much, but I can always hop on, join a platoon, and follow orders and attack/defend some bases. It has excellent graphical design and a ton of huge, fun firefights. And its free and the DLC model seems reasonable (you only have to pay for cosmetic gear)

So the question is why arent you playing? My understanding is most people get bad performance. I built a new rig this summer with a 4770K so that hasnt been an issue for me lol.

I stopped playing because it isn't very rewarding to me.

I played it during the beta and when it first launched, it ran like ass and I ended up finding it rather boring

I played way to much as launch and now i feel there is no reason to play it. Nothing major has changed

I'm always going to avoid games with a F2P model if I can. And BF4 just seems to be a better game to me.

Not a fan of the aesthetics, and the devs kinda suck. It's an alright game, it's just not better than Battlefield, which is prolly its biggest competitor.

the pay 2 win microtransactions kill it for me

I don't like pay to win games. For instance, I got sniped by someone so far away that I couldn't even see them. Getting killed by people that bought better weapons gets very old...

The game is still an unoptimized mess. I'll go back to it once they enable multi-core support and it doesn't feel like I'm playing on a ten year old computer. Thankfully most of my outfit plays BF4, so we're still having a blast.

Sums it up for me.

The game just isn't that fun anymore to me. A lot of the design is just kinda bad or went down the drain.

It's supposed to be combined arms and it's pretty much becoming more and more about infantry play, spawn camping and massive zergs of infantry respawning and killing each others over and over. The infantry combat unfortunately is just boring compared to other games out there. I used to be mostly a prowler driver and had a lot of fun with my tank but many of the changes just nailed the coffin for me. Can't be bothered to play since they adjusted the resource cost, decided to slap walls everywhere and not addressing problems with vehicles.

Put about 250+ Hours into it and got bored.

Waiting for the optimizations so the game is playable when things get hectic

bad netcode, bad framerate, too much walking, clunky movement

I still play from time to time, and I don't see most of the complaints posted here. The framerate and performance is acceptable on my PC. The vehicles are fun to use. The physics and gunplay are not the best I've seen, but good considering the scale of the battles can be so massive.

I prefer tribes 2.

I went back into it a couple weeks ago and had a pretty bad time. Still feels like a meatgrinder when you get into a big battle, was constantly getting killed by super high level players with crazy weapons, and it still ran pretty poorly.

Just simply didn't have fun with it.

They have had an eternity to fix the performance issues and they never did. Without a stable FPS, it's hard to invest the time/money. Plus, there were a ton of frustrating bugs that they were aware of but failed to fix patch after patch.

Still had some very awesome moments.

I suppose it's just not a very fun game. Despite its enormous budget and clear dev-dedication backing it, it has very sterile and unexciting gameplay. While the gunplay is solid, it isn't stellar and doesn't keep me coming back for more. And for some reason, the scale of the map feels wasted. WW2 online is still the more entertaining MMOFPS for me, despite feeling mostly unfinished after its near-15 years of development. Assaulting enemy bases in the game comes with the purest sense of dread and fear. You literally have no idea where someone will be, and unlike PS2, you can't drop back to the action from a pod in the sky.

Never enjoyed it and had bad performance.

Haven't tried it on my new setup but the gameplay doesn't interest me. Either it is vacant of action, as you drive across the landscape capping points, or it's a completely nonsensical zerg rush of hundreds of people in small spaces shooting each other and hoping enemies don't get culled because it's too populated. Gunplay did not like, map design and bases don't seem to have much thought put into them. Vehicles average. Just not a fun game for me.

I tried the Beta because it was looking inmense and enormous. Tried it, lighting was cool, enourmous and oversized maps, clueless players, boring experience, QUITTED

Also the artwork and factions are rather cheesy and cheaply generic

Holy crap is ww2 online still up..Wow I own this game but its been years since ive downloaded it.Im shocked its still up and running..How is it lol..

I only play if a friend of mine is playing, it's not fun game to play if you're alone, even if you join a squad.

Even thought I enjoy PS2 and still play it weekly, I do have one gameplay complaint. Because of the nature of the game, taking bases, with no major restrictions on where players choose to be, there tends to be too much zerging. I have had situations where I am defending a base with 2 other people against 100 enemies. Playing outnumbered can be fun, but not when you have 30 enemies per ally. Also, zerging with my faction is boring, and I'm always looking for where the action is. Other times, when the zergs finally clash, I am in some of the most massive, fun, and intense battles I have ever seen in gaming. The games design is simultaneously its greatest strength, and its greatest weakness. I find myself not having a lot of fun 40% of the time, so I can have fun the other 60%. 10% of that 60 ends up being balls to the wall amazing. It is weird compared to a game with smaller servers like Battlefield, where teams can never be so lopsided.

Might try it again sometime now I have a better GPU.

I played it once for like 5 minutes, lost interest, jumped on a different game, and haven't tried it again. I might get bored enough someday to try it again.
