PC cannot find CD-ROM drive

I'm getting this message in the device manager :

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Troubleshooting only asks if I disconnected the device, which I haven't....Does anybody know whats going on with my dvd-drive?

It sounds like it is either disabled in the bios or the jumper is set to the wrong position. If this just happened randomly after previously working fine i have no idea.

erughghgh, on my old pc as soon as i installed itunes my cd drive would dissapear and not work, alottt of hassle, only way to fiz was to reinstall os, not even uninstall itunes,then i installed itunes again and it made my cd drive not work, ALOT O F HASSLE

Then i smashed my ipod up so i didnt need itunes, and never had a problem since, sorry but it *could* be itunes...they gave me problems
