More to come but they just announced it at Blizcon and showed a video....not sure what to think at the moment. Looks ok I guess.

Blizzard Announces Brand New Franchise, Overwatch

It's a team-based multiplayer shooter.

Today during Blizzcon, World of Warcraft developer Blizzard Entertainment announced an all-new franchise called Overwatch, just as was rumored. Development on the game is being led by Jeff Kaplan, a former World of Warcraft game director.

Kaplan says Overwatch is an action-packed, team-based multiplayer shooter. Blizzard showed off gameplay during the presentation today, and the game gives off a Team Fortress 2 vibe, for sure.

Sounds cool, but kind of reminds me of Battleborn?

Super excited for this. Reminds me a lot of Team Fortress.

Anyways, It's nice to see an art style other than "Realistic, boring, dark, gloomy, and grey".

Realism is for real life! like going to work and using excel, that's realistic. I don't want a game about using excel.

At the rate at which we're going, Quick books will be considered a video game next generation.

Same here, I love Blizzard but it looks like just another fps to me.

It looks meh, I expect way more from Blizzard.

This is smaller version of Titan MMO . Looks great but not my thing . Legacy of the void trailer was nice but hopefully there is more to show today .

50 bucks says this is what is left of Titan. they realized they couldnt effectively make it into an MMO so they took the assets that had already been made and turned it into a TF2 shooter.

Nice, I'd be saying it's another Team Fortress game but it's got more characters.

Don't really get this. Expect more of the same? Blizzard spent many years mostly in stagnation and now they are branching out in different genres, creating entirely new IP's.

Many people love Team Fortress 2 -7+ years on. A few similar titles exist but none has arguably even came close to it. In a genre currently filled with grey/brown looking down sights, I welcome this.

i knew it didnt make any sense for them to cancel titan after it had been in development for so long. and titan was said to be a fps mmo then they announce this?

f2p? as far as i know business model has not been announced.

I avoid this and most problems with FPS by finding a decent server and just favoriting it.

I played the demo at BlizzCon. It's a lot like TF2. The hero abilities are pretty entertaining.

If this really was Titan I'm happy they just made into a FPS... I don't think it would of gone great as an MMO...

I never got the chance to play TF2 in its heyday. I think this looks like a fun game and from the sound of it the rounds can go pretty quick. Should be good for something to pick up and play a few rounds of. I'm looking forward to it and will be trying to get into the beta.

Looks pretty cool. I still play Team Fortress 2 from time to time. I'd gladly play a newer game for my Team FPS game fix.

Hes 100% right.... many people are complaining about "No Warcraft 4?" ... yet wtf would Warcraft 4 even provide at this point? even StarCraft 2 hasn't managed to live up to the notalgia fanboys of the original... neither has Diablo 3 even with its many revisions.

Nostalgia is dominating Blizzard fanboys.... its now 10-15 years later and the same games, in the same genres won't make the same impact. Warcraft 4 is like Half-Life 3 ... almost pointless to make in 2014 and it goes to show that consumors can't separate nostalgia from realistic expectations. its lose lose if Blizzard/Valve listen to this crowd.

Hell... Hearthstone has currently 15x as many viewers on twitch than StarCraft 2... and you think Warcraft 4 will be some "god tier sequal"? Bulls*it those times are past.

This new TF2 + Moba character elements looks quite interesting... and could stand out in a very saturated genre... I welcome "The next TF2" because TF2 is one of the only amazing non-generic MP shooters out there.

My only gripe with overwatch, is teh 6 vs 6 thing. (I'm glad there is no Team Deathmatch or Free For All modes though! well done blizz!) might not be able to replicate those awesome dedicated server CTF triathlons!

Looks pretty kewl but I'll have to try it first. Some of these games have to much hype and never rock, we will see.

This and Killing Floor 2 are by far the games I'm most hyped about and looking forward to playing good time to be a PC gamer!

I haven't watched the video, but from screenshots and descriptions I'm reading it looks very very meh. I'm not feeling the art style or characters at all. And it looks really generic to IMO. Don't get me wrong I love TF2 and played WoW a lot, but this just does not look at all appealing to me in terms of gameplay or visuals.

EDIT: A couple things occur to me. After watching the video I am even less interested in playing this. And whoever said they must have recycled the assets from Titan to make this, I think that is spot on. I can just imagine the meeting:

Crony 1: So Titan turned out to be a colossal money sink with nothing to show for it.

Crony 2: Yeah, what about the art assets, can we recycle that into something with a minimum amount of effort for a quick cash grab?

Crony 1: Ummm... Arena FPS with minimal at launch content and then a highly cynical DLC scheme?

Crony 2: Love it, go with that. The less maps and content at launch the better, we are going to squeeze this turd until it fossilizes.

EDIT 2: As predicted Overwatch is the PvP remnants of Titan. LOL, way to scrape the bottom of the barrel Blizz.

Really like the art design, but it'll be interesting to see how the gameplay turns out.
