@Jd1680a:

1 - Get an SSD drive to install Windows onto, the speed difference is amazing

2- Unsure on the PSU, not heard of the brand cant find any reviews for it, although on further investigation CWT make their PSU's, they sometimes make PSU's for corsair.

A) No idea why you went with full tower but lets say it's for impressing people

B) i7, 5TB, 16GB RAM and GTX980 - please say that you bought this setup for editing... because it sure not a gaming setup, it might be a mix.

He's trying to "futureproof". There's nothing wrong with his specs, although chances are he paid too much for it.

@quikdash6: There's not a huge difference between the 980 and 970 perfoamcne wise.

Wouldn't 970 sli be better value than a 980 and similar cost

Wrong we will start seeing dx 12 games around a year after dx12 becomes available, DX 12 does not change what standards dx 11 laid down since its core abilities are the same. DX12 gives more control over resources while using less cpu resources.

Some people want a single card setup (specially the ones that don't know much).
Build looks good, it could use a bit better mobo.

Yeah but SLI scaling sucks and not all games support it. Not to mention most games take a while to implement a proper SLI/Crossfire profile after release.

OP: 4790? If you want it to last long the only answer is a 4790K. Overclocks like a dream.

Also OP, how much did you pay? My guess is north of 2,000$.

most games support and its getting more common for it to be supported, if hes gonna game above 1080p its a better choice than a 980

@thehig1: It is always recommended to go for the single more powerful card than going SLI out of the gate. I know most games support SLI but the performance is wildly inconsistent ranging form no difference at all to almost perfect 100% scaling. I'm not a big fan of multi-gpu solution as I've tried it multiple times and it doesn't come near the smoothness and hassle-free experience of a single GPU.

I didn't even say that...

TC wants it to last 4yrs, it wont with W7.

DX12 WILL be used within 4yrs, re-read what I said.

You must have tried it at a wrong time. For the past year SLI/Crossfire has been pretty good, supports most games, and SLI/Crossfire actually scales pretty good now.
