Ok I'm currently looking to build a computer that will be something like this:

Vista 64bit

750i FTW

Q6600 @ 3.2

8800gts 512mb x2 in SLI

4gb DDR2

Now my question is will I be able to play older games on this rig as well as new ones? As I have only recently looked into getting into computer gaming I have missed many what you may consider "classic" games. I have heard there are compatibility issues with Vista and older games, as well as with newer graphics cards. Will installing XP on second HDD fix most of the problems? Will there be any issues with the hardware?

The games I'm talking about are pre 00's

I recommend keeping your old PC for old games.

So basically dualbooting a second harddrive with XP on it will fix any problems? Because I don't really want to have to build a second computer.

Yeah, dual-booting is easy enough, just make sure your Windows installs are on seperate hard disks or at least seperate partitions. Havn't noticed a whole lot of things that Vista 64 won't run, but havn't gone way back in my catalogue since there were so many great games last year that I'm still trying to finish.

Mechwarrior 2 and the Mercenaries version are very difficult games to get working on a new computer with XP or Vista. I searched the internet, and found some hex-edited exe cracks that did the trick. Those games were so awesome for their time.
