Looks like Nvidia showed off some new hardware today, (for laptops anyways) in the way of their new 800 series. The GTX 880M, GTX 870M, GTX 860M, GTX 850M, and a few other models.

Nvidia is saying that there's up to a 60% increase in performance over their previous generation. Sounds interesting. Can't wait to see what the non-M 800 series will have to offer.

Looks interesting. I hope they release some actual testing results soon so I can actually see how these cards perform in real world applications. It'll be nice if notebooks can become viable gaming machines.

I really hope these use their new tech that's supposed to use less power. That's what laptop gaming needs.

Looks great but I wished they did a little more to there highend chip (the 880M for gaming purporses is just a 780M with a 10-15% overclock).

The 850,860, and 870 have a much much large gap between generation and they look promising (charts at bottom) http://wccftech.com/nvidia-unleashes-geforce-gtx-800m-mobility-gpu-lineup-notebooks-full-geforce-experience-features/

Damn, I just dropped $750 on a gtx 755m book a month ago, I'm really wishing I had waited a bit now.

You should be fine since you got a pretty good price on that.

Laptops with decent GPU's cost a freaking arm and a leg. I was helping someone get a laptop for school about 6 months ago and the laptops with a lowend 700 series GPU (GTX 740M) where like minimum $700 (In order to get a GTX 860 or higher, your for sure dishing out $1000+ no questions asked).

So in your case it might not be that bad (A gtx 860 or higher would be a significant jump from what your have but its going to cost hundreds of dollars more, thus its not like you got ripped off).

Only 860M and 850M uses actual Maxwell architecture. 880M uses the Kepler, just like 680M and 780M. It's frankly a regular 680 with lower clock speed and bandwidth, but with far more VRAM. With its 8GB it has more than Titan...
