New ultrabook for school help

Right now I am looking for a new laptop for school to take notes on. I am torn between the latest Mac book air and the surface pro 3. In short, I just need something that is easy to take notes on, maybe run the adobe suit, some minor games here and there during my down time and over all just something that gives me the most bang for my buck. I am not totally sold on just the SP3 and MBA. If someone else can suggest something better I am all ears!

£300 laptop and spend the rest on a desktop. Works well for me.

Microsoft surface and macbook airs are pretty much the worst value computers available.
