Picking the parts for next computer but really don't know much about memory chips.

Was gonna go for corsair 800mhz ddr2 2048mb TwinX

But then found this Corsair CVS 667mhz ddr2 2048 KIT at about half the price. Could buy 4 gigs of this at almost same price as other one.

What you guys think and any suggestions for quality and not expensive ram?

Not really sure how important ram is or if the difference between 667mhz or 800 mhz means little.

The RAM you have to buy depends on the Mobo you already have or intend to buy. Most Mobo manufacturers will list the RAM that is compatible with them for various speeds. DDR2 800 would be faster than DDR2 667..

4GB of Kingston DDR2-667 is like $215 (US) on newegg. Now that would rock, go for that.

checked the motherboard i picked it's pretty fancy. takes them all and 4 slots for it. What i was asking was if the speed makes a hugh difference for games and stuff? Processor would be the E6600 on vista.

The speed of the RAM makes very little difference in most applications - I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh yeah if you get 4 gigs of ram windows and all 32 bit OS will only see 2.75 for safety, it will be subtracted by your video card and sound card it does not matter if you had 128vram or 512vram it will be recognized as 2.75 for saftety, this does not mean it can't be accessed as a page file. So you won't get the actual performance of 4 gigs, I would reccomend getting vista home premium 64bit or xp 64 bit if you do that.

I keep hearing nothing is designed for 64bit so was just gonna get vista premium 32bit. I'd probably be ok right now with 2gigs anyway, anything over that right now is overkill.

Anyone happen to know what that means when they put KIT at end of description for ram?
