I'm sure you guys a lot of posts like this, but I couldn't find (AKA I'm lazy, search function never works) any posts that fit my situation. I'm looking to build a comp, but I want to avoid buying crap parts, so thats where you come in. Assume kb/m and OS are taken care of. Need a monitor.

Imo 640gb is too much. I got a 160gb and I am happy with that. And you don't really need 4gb or ram if you are over budget. Get 2gb.

Processor: Intel E2180 - $70

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP43-DS3L P43 - $95

Memory: OCZ ATi CrossFire 2x1GB DDR2-800 memory - $46

Case: Antec Three Hundred - $60

Power Supply: Antec Basiq 500W OEM - $40

Optical Drive: Black Samsung DVD Burner - $26

Hard Disk: Western Digital 250GB HDD -$60

Video Card: VisionTek HD 4850 512MB - $190

TOTAL = $587

Pick a monitor. Also, you'll need a power cord, which I assume you have lying around.

Would you guys recommend an E7200 over as an upgrade to that E2180?

It's a great overclocker and will take you farther than the E2180, but I'd probably put the money into a better graphics card before the processor.

Basically, will I be able to max out HL2:EP2, BF2, and Sins with a playable framerate, with an OC'd E2180 and HD4870?

Uhh, that's not saying much. You will be able to play Crysis on high settings and AA at 16*10.

*jaw drops* And isn't Crysis supposed to be a processor dependent game?

Yes, that would be where the overclocking comes in.

then get a 8800gt, use the stock cooler for now and if that isn't enough change the cpu to a e7200

that depends if he is going to over clock or not. if its stock speed then the e7200 is well worth it but but if your going to overclock then it probably wont be much different
