I have been on Newegg for like an hour trying to build a cheap computer, that would run WoW on high settings....ya pathetic i know. but heres the thing...i want an AMD 64 4000+ with 1 gig ram...the ram is the problem. i dont get the whole sockets thing! its annoying! cuz this one motherboard that i thought was fine...ISNT i guess. iono. im sooooo freakin confused right now. and i dont know if i need a sound card, i would rather not get one if i dont have to...but if it makes a huge difference i'll get one. the vid card i planned on getting was the  EVGA 256-P2-N429-LR GeForce 7200GS 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card. would that run it on high? this PC is just holding me over till i get my super comp...lol.
my point is...could u guys tell me what to get, im looking for a cheap comp too. like... i had everything BUT the ram already, and its only 250...somewhere around there, would be great. under 300....or around it. anyways. if you guys could do that, i would love you forever.
sorry bout font change, cant change it back for some reason.
P.S. Gonna use DSL with this...so i need w/e i need to use that.

Ok, are you going to be using parts that you already have like a hard drive and dvd drive...? Or are you going to start from scratch?

Actually, I misread the proccessor you posted. I thought you meant the dual core instead of the single. It might be possible. Let me see what I can put together.

If anyone wants to try to get this build any cheaper, here's what I got so far:

COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-WW Black/Silver Aluminum Bezel, SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

EVGA 256-P2-N541-T2 GeForce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

Rosewill RE501-BLK ATX12V v2.03 500W Aluminum Power Supply - Retail

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADO4000DDBOX - Retail

G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400PHU1-1GBNR - Retail

Western Digital Caviar SE WD400JD 40GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM

SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-203B - OEM

Microsoft Windows XP Home With SP2B 1 Pack - OEM

Funny how the Windows XP software is the most expensive part on this list. I don't think it will get much cheaper... It won't get lower than $450 for sure.

You could get a ECS AMD690GM-M2 for $10 less and a DVD-ROM drive for $12 less, but there's really not much else I can suggest. The only other thing you could do is to use a Windows XP disk more than once. And that's not exactly legal.

Hmm... if you have some old computers, you think you could salvage the case?? Just take everything out and give it a really good cleaning so its free from dust.

If you think that you need a better computer, I think you should save up, because once you hit the $1000 mark on your budget, you can get some pretty good parts...

76ers was right,you can't really get it below $450. I was able to put together a slightly better system (dual-channel RAM, better vid, bundle deal on HD and save a bit on Enermax case with PSU) all for about $455 including Windows. If you don`t need Windows, that drops to $365.

$60 GIGABYTE GA-MA69VM-S2 AM2 AMD 690V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

* $66 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail
* $70 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Use link below to add to cart with combo price:

It is pretty close to a E4300 in most games, so the CPU would let you play Bioshock or Crisis... But if you put in a higher end video card, you will probably need a better PSU too.

If he sticks with the x1650 or even goes up to a X1950Pro, that PSU will be good. It is better than most generic "500Watt" PSUs. Its anEnermax and has 27A on the 12V rails.

Now if you want to go with the 8800GTS or higher, I would definitely go with something a little stronger.
