Hey,

I got an old PC with an AGP Msi 6600GT.

Few hours ago, while playing left for dead online, the game started dropping artifacts all around and overall the whole graphics gone nuts!

I closed it down and opened the speed fan software.

The GPU temp was over 110 celsius degrees.

I opened up the computer and noticed the fan is busted.

It somehow twisted itself and broke so badly, that fixing is not an option.

I pulled the poor thing out and now I need to use the intergrated Intel 845g to post this topic.

Does anyone of You know, what type of fan do I need to make this Geforce running again?

I noticed some in online stores, but they say it's not compatible with an AGP 6600...

I suppose I could save the casing and just buy a naked fan with a compatible cable and size...

Before You ask, no... the card was not damaged permanently, while the temp. remains under 80-90 degrees it works alright, but without that stupid fan it gets hot really fast.

I would, but my old PC won't handle any newer i think.

It is an old IBM with 2,4Ghz Pentium 4 and 1 Gig of ram.

Considering I got payed out on a new cellphone and a PSP lately, fixing this is the only solution for now.. ;(

And it's still more than two weeks before salary.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600007850%20600035050&IsNodeId=1&name=320%20Stream%20Processing%20Units

Kind of steep for videocard but they phased out agp.

Theres other cheaper agp, but it will be worse than the 6600.

Here, this pci fan will cool your gpu. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835888112

Leave about one pci slot of space between the fan and graphics card.

Performance-PCs still has a few old Zalman VF700's in stock for around $25, which were a very popular cooler back when the 6600GT was still a new and popular card.

I managed to screw a PC fan into the card and plug into the MoBo for power.

I try to control it's speed with "speed fan", but everytime I run any games the program while being in the background seems to turn off,

so the card get's hot again... any ideas?

So far the GPU is at 37 celsius degrees woo hoo!

Isn't 37 degrees cool enough?

It should be, but whenever I try to play something the cooler slows down, or even stops so it starts to heat up pretty badly and then it starts spinning whenever it likes...

I'd feel safer if I could set a permanent, constant speed.

Will this work with SLi setups?
