If you leave near a Microcenter you can grab that processor for a little cheaper. Find a way to squeeze in a SSD for you boot drive. Once you get one you won't go back. Does that motherboard have features you need? Maybe you can save a little going with a cheaper one.

Yeah, you can buy R9 290 for 250$.

Corsair Vengence Pro for 89$, you can buy something cheaper for about 65-70$.

MOBO for 208$, you can buy something with the same SLI config for 120$.

That PSU is wasted there unless you plan on triple SLI with that 970.

I'm fine with my K30 keyboard, I hope that 150$ keyboard will make you coffee every morning.

Case is full tower, again if you don't plan on 3-4 GPU config it's a waste of space, nobody impressed today by the size, it's the power that INSIDE that matters (already built ITX config with 970 inside :D )

a good 600-650W psu is more than enough for anything on the market so you can save a bit there

Also there are alot of good $150 Z97 motherboards that offer the same performance than more expensive mobos and they only miss a few features that most people wont use so you can save another $50 there

the $150 keyboard is imo wayyyy overkill. You can get a quality mechanical keyboard for half the price . Heck you can probably get a $50 keyboard and be as good

You can also save a bit on the mouse though that logitech is great you can find similar performance and with similra features mouse for around $40

Finally you can save yourself another $40-50 by getting a good $30-40 air cooler which will still be quiet and extremely efficient even with a decent overclock

I do plan on 2/3way sli 970's. So I will probably keep that PSU.

Do these look like better improvements to save some money and still get the same performance?

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT ATX LGA1150 $188.99

Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 $74.88

Keyboard Razer Blackwidow 2014 $81.70

Lowered my total price by $102.47

And if you are a student, you can get Windows 8 Embedded version from Microsoft Dreamspark for free

This will save you a good deal of money if you are targeting 2 way SLI

Can someone recommend me a good CPU cooler under $90 that will keep the temp real low even at overclocking? Or is that one the best to get at that price?

I don't see how an 850W PSU is overkill. I have an 850W PSU. When you factor in overclocking and buying more power hungry cards in the future, It is not overkill by any means. Nvidia got cute with power efficiency with the 900 series, but they did not push performance. When they release their high performance cards, they will need more power. As long as you are not spending a fortune on it, having a little extra power is good thing.

So an Antec TP650 is not enough for GTX470 and a 8800GTS (Physx), as well as a Q6600 at 3.4Ghz, as well as 3 HDD's, 2 DVD drives?

Those were 2 of the most power hungry cards Nvidia made.

My friend is also running 980 SLI's on the Antec TP650 v2 or v3 (I forget), and it hasn't failed him yet, oh and the CPU 4790k has a 4.5Ghz OC, does the PSU complain? nope.

People generally way overestimate their power requirements or they use the power calculators which overestimate as well.

Noctua D14, one of the best.

Nice saving

Each GPU takes about 150Watts, the recommended for 2x 970s is 500Watts in full stress.

You can be safe with 650Watts PSU on triple SLI, you can always get something a bit high in case you go crazy with 4 way like that 850Watts PSU of yours, just make sure you've got enough connectors for that config
