Wow. Uhh, everyone has to have Team Fortress 2. Also Portal 2 if you didn't play it on consoles.

The same goes for these- Deus Ex HR and Batman: Arkham City and Max Payne 3

As well as Orcs Must Die 1 or 2, the Torchlight games, and I have heard good things about Metro 2033.

So those are some that may or may not get recommended by others.

Best action/RPG games (in my opinion)

  • Skyrim
  • The Witcher
  • The Witcher 2
  • Legend of Grimrock
  • Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition
  • Just Cause 2
  • Arma 2 + expansions and DayZ mod
  • Diablo 2
  • Planescape Torment (you might have to pick up a copy of it on a site like Amazon)

If you're in the mood for some FPS/other games

  • Half Life 2 + the episodes
  • Metro 2033
  • Crysis
  • Crysis Warhead
  • L4D 2/L4D
  • Killing Floor
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games (I only have Call of Pripyat and I find it to be amazing)
  • Starcraft 2
  • Warcraft 3 + expansion
  • League Of Legends

That should keep you busy for awhile lol

Why no mass effect D:

Get L.A Noire (little action and more roleplaying as a detective) and Deus Ex Human Revolution.

They're very cheap now.

Just the last 2 years or from before that aswell?

I'll just list some games I personally enjoyed on the pc:

-Just Cause 2 with all dlc

-Saints Row 3

-Minecraft / Terraria, if it's up your alley

-LA Noire complete, if it's up your alley

-STALKER, WITH the STALKER complete 2009 mod. I know it's older than 2 years but with the complete mod it's amazing. Especially if you add the realistic weapon damage mod aswell. Even if you have already played and finished STALKER this is absolutely amazing. Sweet graphics, weather effects, lighting, items, realism, sleeping bag, better combat, etc etc.

-World in Conflict

-Amnesia

-Deus Ex Human Revolution

-Limbo

-Machinarium

-Torchlight / Diablo 3

-SWAT 4 if it's up your alley (older than 2 years)

Mass Effect is arguably the greatest series to hit games... ever. I'm not oblivious to games like Mario, and Zelda, I'm simply not that into cartoony b.s. the story offered by the Mass Effect team is rich, and involving to say the least. I could go on for pages about all the great aspects each individual game brings to the gaming community, but in the interest of time I'll sum it up for you. Please indulge me for a few minutes here, as I'm speaking entirely from the heart. I loved Mass Effect (as is evident from my first sentence) but unlike most people who just look at one aspect of a game, and never really get into it (i.e. CoD). The first Mass Effect game (ME1) was an Xbox exclusive, therefore I was never able to go through the steps of Commander Shepard's story from the beginning until I bought an Xbox later on. So for that reason I'll describe my favorite game of all time: Mass Effect 2 (ME2): Right off the bat, you get a taste as to the depth and severity of the game, as you encounter a star ship getting blasted by an unknown vessel. Inside we see a man put a helmet on his head as the ship around him crumbles, this man is clearly the leader of the ship. After a brief dialogue with you second in command at the time, you take control and walk your way up to the bridge where upon you open the blast doors to the ice cold vacuum of space. Never have I felt more alone, or more astonished when playing a game, then that first time I opened the door to see a snow-white planet above and hearing nothing but the silence of space. It was almost as if you became Commander Shepard in that moment, you could hear every deliberate breath he took, as each one seemed more labored then the last, you can tell somethings bit's about to happen. Eventually you make your way to the helm, and save your helmsman from certain death, at the cost of your own life-ejecting his escape pod seconds before the Commander is engulfed in the flames of his dying vessel. Shepard is thrown back into a wall, whereupon a second later we see him cling to the back of his neck to discover a punctured air-tube, Shepard is going to die. Just before the credits begin, we see Shepard struggle to fix his oxygen, but in vain, as his body is pulled to the icy planet I mentioned early, we hear a lone piano play slowly as Commander Shepard enters the atmosphere. That is story telling in a game at its finest. That is what pulled me into the universe of Mass Effect. That is why Mass Effect is regarded by many as the best RPG franchise of all time. I don' mean to waste your time, so I'll say this as my final word: ME1 was great, but wasn't quite polished enough to be perfect, ME2 was perfect, from the romances (believe me there are marriages that don't come close to the emotional attachment you'll get from Mass Effect's romances), to the story, to the story-telling (see the above description), ME2 really was the perfect game. Mass Effect 3 (ME3), the elephant in the room as it were, has a terrible ending-IF you've played ME2/ME1/both, but up until the ending, ME3 truly had ME2 beat. You could feel the urgency of the game as you raced towards your final mission, and even from the beginning you could tell the stakes had never been as high. If you have any questions or would like to know more about Mass Effect, please shoot me a message (I'd love to talk about it), or go to any review of the franchise (they'll almost certainly agree with what I've said).

Well, you can start with some of my favorite exclusives this generation, a good chunk released in the last 2 years:

  • Legend of Grimrock (First Person RPG)
  • Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer (party based RPG, the greatest story this gen)
  • Mount & Blade: Warband (sandbox RPG) with the Prophesy of Pendor module for SP, and cRPG for multiplayer.
  • Torchlight 2 (point 'n click - hack 'n slash RPG)
  • Tribes Ascend (F2P MP FPS)
  • Total War: Shogun 2 (TBS/RTS hybrid)
  • Civilization 5 + Expansion (TBS empire building)
  • King's Bounty: Armored Princess (RPG/TBS hybrid)
  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent (First Person Horror)
  • Stalker Trilogy (open world FPS) with the Complete Mod for each game
  • Vindictus (MMO Action RPG, quite brilliant and fun)
  • Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga (open world RPG, one of the best there is)
  • Trackmania 2 Canyon (incredibly fun MP racing game)
  • Anno 1404: Dawn of Discovery (ridiculously addictive RTS/City Building game)
  • Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars + Dragon Storm expansion (RPG/RTS hybrid)

Any port is going to be superior and worth getting for the PC, you can start with these, which are amongst my favorite, if you haven't played them yet:

  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • Max Payne 3
  • Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition
  • The Orange Box (Half Life 2, episode 1 + 2 worth it alone)
  • Sleeping Dogs(brilliant game, my favorite modern open world)
  • Orcs Must Die! 2
  • Metro 2033
  • X-COM: Enemy Unknown
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution

That really depends upon what type of games you're into.

Free to Play:

-Team Fortress 2

-PlanetSide 2

-League of Legends

-Quake Live

-Vindictus

-Tribes: Ascend

All of those are great free to play games, but if you're interested in other games that are retail I'd suggest playing some of the multiplatform games on PC:

-Farcry 3

-Battlefield 3

-Skyrim (million times better with mods)

-Borderlands 2

-The Witcher 2

-Saints Row: The Third

-Borderlands 2

Games that are exclusive to PC that are worth trying:

-Amnesia: The Dark Descent

-Guild Wars 2

-Torchlight 2

-World of Warcraft

-Starcraft 2

-Company of Heroes

-World in Conflict

-CounterStrike: GO or source (Go isnt exclusive but still is fun)

-Total War games

-Arma II+DLC+Day Z mod

All I can think of but I hope that's a good start. xP

(edited for formating and added a few games)
