Looks like the good ole' folks in Redmond are playing a little catch up. Recently, Microsoft launched http://www.win741.com/ to promote the release of their newest operating system which will ship to retailers later next month. For a limited time (read: January 2010), college students looking to save some much needed cash for "textbooks" (beer) can take advantage of special student pricing. At $29, Microsoft is matching the incredibly popular Snow Leopard deal put forth by Apple for their own Snow Leopard release, which has been a huge success. The promotion applies to both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional. Since many of the posters in OT are college students, this offer is sure to be a hit.

Thoughts?

Lucky. I have yet to receive my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate from Microsoft for completing their "ExpertZone" training.

That looks to be the case. Still, $30 is pretty good for Windows 7 Premium. At least mine are RTM keys :D .

Its the upgrade version. But who cares? I picked up their Office 2007 Ultimate deal a month back for $60, and Im deffinately going to pick this up. I was planning on buying Windows 7 anyway, and this will save me quite a bit.

ms is still far to greedy to offer it to the whole world. It's always usa only for the great os deals. Probably some crappy upgrade version anyway.
