Your FSB:RAM ratio isn't ideal.  From what I've read, you really want a 1:1 for it.

Your ram speed needs to be identicle or faster to your FSB for any good results when it comes to overclocking. Your ram is slowing down your computer at just the 300 mhz you have now.

Your motherboard isn't able to run DDR2?  You ideally want a RAM speed that matches whatever you end up with as your FSB.

Your RAM and mobo are both crap for overclocking. :( Why did you get such a good case and processor when you didn't have the mobo, RAM and GPU to go with it. Hell, even an Intel G965 media board would offer similar performance to that setup. Save up some cash, and go for a mobo, GPU, RAM and PSU upgrade.

Truthfully, you did a great value upgrade.  You probably had a single core 64 AMD and wanted to grab a Dual Core but wanted to recycle your AGP card and ram?  Plus you got that PSU for free?  I wouldn't OC this board and would wait until you get a performance board.  On your Asrock, the wall is 300 fsb right?  For $350 you could get a great board and 2 gigs of ram.  Problem is you need to wait a bit so you have a GPU and since you are waiting on the G80s that is going to be another month.  I would wait for until march.  btw, you can get the 500w Ultra for free now after rebate.

In my opinion, this was a good idea to use as a stepping.  You can get DDR2 ram first until you can get a performance board and GPU.  Keep the CPU of course cause you can easily get $900 CPU performance out of it.

OK look for (on newegg): - MSI P965 Platnium or abit AB9 PRO motherboard. - 2GB of Geil DDR2-667+ - 7600GS (should last you until you get a 8600 Ultra) - Sunbeamtech Nuuo 550w Modular PSU Sell the unneeded parts. Also, are those HDDs SATA or PATA? If they're PATA just transfer your files to a 160GB-250GB Western Digital SATA HDD and sell the PATA drives too. Shouldn't cost that much, so long as you keep buying and selling, buying and selling.

hmm... Well.. Right now you have AGP so just stay with the mobo you have for a bit.. You can try to raise the FSB a bit.. but if you upgrade motherboard... You are going to need new ram (DDR2) and a new video card (PCI-E x16) I would look at waiting until the 8xxx video cards come out and get one of the lowerend one of those with some nice Geil ram (they are usually pretty cheap) and the Gigabyte 965 based board is awesome for overclocking.
