I was wondering how well Linux fared with games, or if games were able to be installed on Linux at all. I have been looking at Ubuntu and Gentoo, along with a few others, and they seem to be less resource demanding.

Linux is a great OS, but severely lacking in the gaming department. You won't be able to play new games on it. Although there are programs that allow you to play older Window's games like Wine, Cedega(WineX), and Crossover. It has quite a learning curve to it however, so make sure you're motivated enough.

If you're interested in Linux, and a gamer. I would suggest setting up a dual boot with Windows.
