Thats disappointing to hear. I never liked the Gothic series much...but i did like their Patrician series.

Well I got Gothic 4 for $20 and for that price it was alright. But yeah a bit disappointing compared to the older ones

Maybe I'm just misinformed, but most console games just flop. Only select, very well marketed titles make profit.

Did anyone ever wonder how it even got to Gothic 4? The other ones before it weren't that good either... Risen, I liked a lot though. I hope Risen 2 delivers.

They dumbed down the Gothic series to the Fable III level. And since most console gamers doesn't buy anything that isn't a mainstream blockbuster hyper-hyped title, that was expected.

I guess I'm the only one thats enjoying Gothic 4 so far :(

Handing the franchise off to another developer was their mistake. I've rarely encountered a franchise that does well when it's handed off from the original developers. It causes too many conflicts when all the new guys want to add their 2 cents into the game. It only creates crap, in my opinion. I'm sure the Gothic IP will get sold off to some publisher to help cover the costs of bankruptcy. It'll just be a question of if the game gets continued or not.XIntoTheBlue

Absolutely, handing Gothic 4 to another developer was their biggest mistake, which conflicted with the vision and creativity of the original devs. As well as resulting in the game getting dumbed down to fable levels. Now, there are several games where handing the IP to another developer has been a good thing, but more often than not it hasnt.

Here is a hoping that if they sell the Gothic series to someone who understands the series well enough to make a worthwhile addition to the IP.
