I've heard a lot of good things about the Witcher series and I feel this is a great time to jump in with the D2D deal for $3.99.I was curious however if this can be activated on Steam. I've looked around on the web and so far it seems no, but I'd like clarification from anyone who has already jumped on this deal. Thanks.

*GS not letting me link it unfortunately. :(

Here's a list of games you can activate on Steam, I can assume this is up-to-date for released products.. but who knows for sure.

One question from me, this activation means you can download & auto update the game as if it were for example Empire: Total War right?

Yes. Activating a retail copy on Steam ties it to your Steam account and you can use it like any other game you've purchased on Steam, including re-downloading it and everything else that goes with it.

It does not have to be on that list to be Steam activatable.

Recently GMG had Alpha Protocol on sale, and it was a version activatable on Steam.

Rather than looking at that list, inspect the game store page closely and see if it matches your description.
