is HL2 deathmatch enough?

hey i just want to hear, if i only have cs source and hl2 deathmatch is that enough to play mods on steam or do i need to have hl2 to play mods

Depends on the mod. some of them like Insurgency or Age of Chivalry work with CSS.

I don't think any mod works with HL2 Deathmatch.

If you dont have HL2 just ask around alot of people have extra copies cause they bought Orange Box.
