Hey guys, I just got a new PC and I'm running out of games to play and now I'm done with Skyrim, SR3, and AC:Revelations. Should I buy Battlefield 3? I don't mind the Singleplayer that much because I know it's all about the Multiplayer anyway.

I just want a good multiplayer game that can last long (like TF2).

Cheers for the advice guys

It's missing a bit from BF2, but if you can live without VOIP, it's a great game.

The MP is great so I will say it is worth it. However, do not expect a great package. The single player is awful and the co-operative mode is actually flat out broken. Nutcrackr and I tried some of the missions and the scripted events won't load so you can't progress or unlock new missions.

It's great, but there are some really bad design decisions that kind of marr it for me. There's no menu, you have to use battlelog. It always has to be online even if you're playing single player. You can't change the options unless you're in-game, and if you get killed while you're looking at controls or something, it kicks you out of the menu.

Also, it's an EA game, and I try not to support them at all because they're about as close to satan as you can get when it comes to ruining gaming. But BF3 is so much fun once you get into it that it's worth supporting satan a little bit.

You can play singleplayer offline. I haven't had a problem doing it when the internet was down.

The only bad thing about the lack of menu is that you have to customise your loadout during a match. That's a really weird decison.

Yes its worth the multiplayer alone. Just try and find a clan that gets on a lot. Which btw is there anyone in a clan that plays a lot that I can join. SN: DaMann22

It depends on what you're looking for, the SP and COOP are passable, however if you're looking for multiplayer it may have something for you. There are a massive number of unlocks, I have put 253 hours into the game so far and there are still weapons that I haven't had the chance to use much or haven't gotten unlocks for. It's a game that welcomes many different playstyles which certainly has given the game much greater longevity. Weapons for the most part feel distinct due to different behavior while moving/stationary, spread, recoil recovery, and bullet speed. There are 3 proper maps(Caspian Border, Kharg Island, Operation Firestorm) and the rest are poorly designed and the netcode isn't so great, but at least the patches are fixing up balance and some design issues. A player that gets in close quarters can pick a weapon with a high ROF and maybe attach a laser sight to greatly increase hipfire accuracy or use a tactical flashlight to blind enemies. An Assault class player that likes to make his own paths can use an underslung rail with his AR so he can quickly switch to his grenade launcher and blow a chunk out of a building. A recon player that likes to actively camp can set their MAV on top of a building in front of where enemies are coming or use a motion sensor which can detect enemies above and below where it is placed. And again, many players become very attached to their favorite weapon(s), for example some prefer the G36C over the M4A1 due to the "feel" even though the M4(A1) is statistically the best carbine. There are little details like dust coming out of sand bags and an enemy's eyes rolling back right when you kill them that many players appreciate.

I'm sure if you liked past iterations of the franchise, you'll like this one - even if it is a glorified light show.

I put in more than 70 hours into BF3. Despite some flaws, I like it. Definitely worth the $50-60 that I paid for it. I mean, it's one of those games where you can just crack open, grab a beer, and cause mayhem. It's fun.

But granted, I remember how many people **** about BF2 back in the day and how 1942 was better. It happens with every new release.

Yes. One of the few MP games that doesn't get too monotous and repetitive after 30 minutes.

See the thing is, there's a problem here with making a game that lacks any new game modes, and at best, removes things that were present in old games... Battleships, air dominance maps, bombing runs, titan mode, commander, acceptable flight mechanics for an arcade game, maps with flanking routes that force teamwork, does any of this sound familiar? None of these things are in Battlefield 3 and yet were in previous titles. Then again, the lack of what I mentioned actually makes for a more "streamlined" experience so people who haven't even played video games before can feel competent playing this game...

Infantry can survive 3 shots from a jet's auto cannon or take several hits from rocket pods... Weapons don't even begin to make sense half the time with some weapons that actually kill the target before they realize they've been hit(it happens with weapons that have a high ROF)...

Borrow a copy from a friend to see if it works on your PC first.

BF3 is buggy as hell, but it's great when it works.

And destruction, more customizable weapons and vehicles, rush mode as well as other modes, and other minor things. BF3 is a great online shooter. BF2 will always be a great game and BF2142 is still probably my favorite shooter of all time, but I like to advance with new games.

darn. at least it's better than no ships. I love maps with water. Good times in BF2 sneaking onto enemies ships camping down below.

can you blow up the ships? I remember in BF1942 destroy the ships. Now that was awesome.

Honestly I enjoyed BC2 more, BF3 is just more of the same.As much as I tried, I just couldn't get into it.I get bored after like an hour of play time at most.I think I'm just getting sick of war shooters; I immensely regret buying it.

I'd say go for it, there nothing on the market that will beat Battlefield 3 right now for multiplayer. It's hardcore, mature players, huge maps, tons of weapons, more team focused gameplay and one hell of a fun.

It happens with me too, at first I was going back to BF 2142 as each new release would come out, but the community eventually dwindles too much to allow for the sort of scenarios where you can experience the game at its best. It's quite amusing seeing stuff like this though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbOn_AYtyJU&hd=1

it'll give you great value depending on what kind of shooter you're looking for. meaning, if you're into military shooters, you're pretty much set with this buy.
