Hmmm. Let's see the singlecore benchmarks. If they're good enough, I might remain on the CPU Red team yet again. Every time I threaten to switch back to the Blue team, AMD does something that makes me stay.
I'm happy that the price is dropping but I still wouldn't get anything other than an nvidia. They're the only make that represent quality to me at the moment.

Although I currently have an amd card, and am happy with it, they suck in the processor department. I'm in the area where it sounds great to see the fact that AMD might compete now, but I remain skeptical, considering their recent history of bullshitting.

Still aren't worth what? They are currently the best processor out there.
In technology land it's quite simple, you get what you pay for.
My i5-2500k is still destroying every game I throw at it, especially when overclocked.
Even GTA V totally maxed out (including everything in Advanced Graphics)? My old FX-8350 falls woefully short. He He. ;)

Sorry, what I meant by that is that Intel's 6900K is slower than the 1800x and it's $1000 after the price drop, keep in mind you could get the 1700x and clock it to the same speed for $399 and It'll be faster than the $1K processor from Intel. Intel is now lagging behind and charging more. The only one that meets that statement is the i7-6950X.
@jun_aka_pekto: Well totally maxed out, no, but high/ultra with 60fps at 1080p qualifies as "destroys" in my eyes..

I would still rather pay top dollars for hardware that won't cause my computer problems down the line. AMD would have to pay me to use their stuff. Every rig i ever owned sporting either their CPU or GPU always had inexplicable problems in games or on Windows. Switched to Intel / nVidia and the problems are gone.
