I would almost always chose a dedicated graphics card over integrated, from what i understand it also helps the computer utilize it's resources better.

however why bother with either when you can get a better card even used for like 50 bucks that will be more serviceable than both?

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-Go-7900-GTX.2131.0.html You can use this website to find out everything you need to know about mobile gfx cards. One point I would like to make is that the GPU isn't everything, if the rest of the system is old it doesn't matter how good the card is.

Anything is better than an Intel graphics card.

Intel integrated graphics have come a long way. My laptop has an i3+HD 3000, and I play Starcraft 2 on it everyday. Hell, the integrated chip on the Haswell CPU can play Skyrim at 1080p.. EDIT: I found the SM 3.0 scores for each card, and the scores are about even. So the cards are about equal when it comes to shader processing. But there is more to a GPU than just shader performance, and I'm going to the edge to the 7900GS in terms of shear performance. And the HD 3000 has access to more VRAM, so you would get better texture quality using the HD 3000. In the end, it would boil down to whether or not you want slightly better framerates or high quality textures...

I think the HD 3000 might be better, or at least equal.

That the most dumb Questione ver a Integrated GPU of intel into a CPU ? Versus a 7900GS I mean common.. 7900GS Desktop IS like ten fold Stronger However if you speak of intel HD5000 (Hashwell) LGA 1150 Who release in 2013 Q2 it might come close to surpass a 7900GS hopefully

There apprently was two kind of 7900GS the mobile and Desktop version is alot stronger then laptop What 7900GS ur refering too ? i haven't seen a laptop with them for like nearly 5 Year

one of my parent have a i7 3610QM with intel HD 4000 doesn't compete well compare to my other parent laptop with Intel Core i5 2430 with a GT 540M and GT 540M it Barely If im able to max put half of Setting of Borderland 1 at 1280x800 (Downscale resolution) and Diablo 3 Texture at high and It have issue with FPS Drop in Starcraft 2 in game like Nexus war and Squadtron tower Defense with all graphic at low / medium on at 1440x900 it very bad

The 7900gs is not 10x better than the HD 3000. The SM 3.0 scores in 3D Mark 06 are about the same for both GPU's in fact.. Yes, the GT 540m is much better, but the HD 3000 is on par with an 8600M GT, which will play games on low atleast. I play Starcraft 2 on the HD 3000 using a mix of low and medium settings with high texture quality, so Intel is definitely working to improve their integrated graphics if nothing else...

From http://www.dailytech.com/IDF+2012+Haswell+GT2GT3+Processors+Run+Skyrim/article27656.htm

The GT3 is running "Skyrim" at 1920x1080 resolution with High settings, while the HD 4000 GPU next door is running the same game at the same frame rate, but at Medium settings and a 1366x768 resolution. "

A 7900 GS is slightly more powerful than an intel HD 4000. So the 7900 GS.

Can't wait for the lenovo x230 refresh with a 12.5 screen, i7, and a haswell gpu, WWAN.

Too powerful.

If they just made a 120hz version, best laptop ever.
