Installation problem with Command & Conquer free download from gamespot

Can ANY ONE HELP ??? Posted this yesterday as well

Downloaded the free C&C from this website and followed the instructions. When installing from the disc it asks about direct X (I've installed version10). But after clicking next the installations stops saying the version on the PC is older than what is required!!!? I've unticked direct X and the program installs but when I open the program to run an error appears stating "the procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic library KERNEL32.dll".

Spec is - Vista Home Premium

AMD 64 Dual core (3600 - 1.90GHz) with NVIDIA Geforce 6150 LE & SigmaTel High Def Audio Codec

Your help would be appreciated I love this game and would really like to get it up and running on this PC.

when you install you need to uncheck directx

did you download the patch from ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/ccgold ?

go to C:WESTWOODC&C95, right click on C&C95, properties, compatibility

check the "run this program in compatibility modefor" and change it towindows 95

check "disable visual themes"

check "turn off advanced text servies for this program"

everyhing else is unchecked
