I'm about to make the jump into pc gaming

Ok, finally I'm going to buy a pc. Can you guys give me a list of games I must buy right away? :)

1.) Get Steam

2.) Download, TF2, L4D, All Half-Life's (If you can), and any other games that intrest you, theres tons on steam so theres something for everyone.

3.) Try out Quake live (Its free, and yes this is a shameless advertisement)

4.) "Download" older PC games if you cant find them, games like fallout can be bought at GOG.com, same with Duke nukem 3d.

Thats all for now, useing any one of my points you should find the best modern and older games. Steam is pretty much a MUST if your a PC gamer. Stardock is good too, but only if you buy games like SOASE or Demigod (which i need to get both)

FPS: The Half-Life Series, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Call Of Duty 2, Call Of Duty 4 (If your PC can run it), Call Of Duty: World At War, Unreal Tournament 3, Unreal Tournament 2004

RPG: The Diabl Series, Oblivion, Fallout 3, The Witcher

Strategy: Company Of Heroes, World In Conflict, Dawn Of War 1 and 2, Empire: Total War

Those games can start you out fine.

The Orange Box on Steam. That will keep you busy for a while. Also, The Sims 3 is coming out in June.

Some classics include KOTOR, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament 2k4, AoE 1,2,3, Starcraft and Counterstrike (Still being played today).

Actually, I think it's well worth it. I recently bought ME for PC and I must say the difference is hugh. It plays so smooth, but then again I have a high-end PC Try and get it cheap thogh, I got ME for PC for ~10$ Best deal eva8)

Nice list. Welcome to the PC world, Sage. One thing I would add is think about the games you wanted that weren't ported to consoles, and get those for your collection.

You can buy any mic and headphones you want. You can find mics and headphones as low as $2-3

Orange box ( the mod support alone make it worth buying even if you have the x360 version. there are countless mods for source engine ranging from a simple add-on to a whole new game)

Trackmania nations( a free addictive online arcade driving game with good graphics)

Crysis ( get both they worth it but if you gonna get only 1 get the first since the mod support for the first is much better)

Stalker games ( just make sure you patch them before playing)

Fallout 3 ( great mod support)

Cryostasis ( although this might be a love or hate game)

If you want to get into strategy games try red alert 3 ( good game easy learning curve and extensive tutorial) and then you can try games like Dawn of war 2,sins of solar empires,empire total war ,world in conflict ( i suggest leaving sins of solar empires last though since it has a lot of micromanagement and is a hard game)

You should look into getting some 5.1 headphones. I'm also looking at getting some and so far, these are the best bang for buck I have come across. Then there is also the Tritton and barracuda headphones, but I haven't heard as many good things about them.

If your going to be getting so many games, you should get the 'Valve Complete Pack' and the 'THQ Collector Pack' from Steam.
