Diablo?
Yes, online is also a large part of these games but I played them for years and years before I even thought of going online.
Civilization perhaps, if you're into those type of games.
SupCom too, or at least, I think I'm addicted, although I've only been playing since tuesday I believe. :)
Well... You can try:
Call Of Duty series
CnC 3
FEAR
Doom 3
Half Life 2
Diablo 2
And if you are looking for some online FPS action, try BF2
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Vampire: Bloodlines is an awesome first-player game that can be addictive
I've played it through 13 times, looking forward to 13 more
(not sure if this meets your "new game" criterion, but it's still great)
btw MMOs can be played solo in a way that strongly resembles single-player RPG gaming
just consider everyone to be an NPC - some with more complex behaviors and intelligence than others
Everquest or World of Warcraft.
Everybody has something going on in life, and when your current situation, temporary or permanent becomes unbearable(going to school, lame social life with the ladies, w/e), you find yourself a replacement. MMORPG's. Gotta love 'em.
Maybe you shouldn't play games that addict you. Moderation is good, plus your games will last longer if you don't play 15 hours a day or something.WhiteSnake5000
For someone that played Oblivion for 211hours you really shouldn't be talking tohim about an addiction :P j/k
I'm getting kind of bored with oblivion and I need a new single player game to get addicted to, any ideas?combine107
If you like single player rpgs, take a chance on an oldie. Grab Vampire: Bloodlines for 10 bucks or so. Probally one of the best rpgs I've played other than Baldurs Gate and KoToR. You might need to find some patches and player made patches but it is worth the effort. Don't let the age of the game discrourage you. The graphics are still plenty good.

That first guy that quoted me is crazy annoying, STUPIDITY?...WTH cant a human make a little mistake here before people tear him from limb to limb.
ON TOPIC:
For PC!... I havent found one thats not Elder's Scroll's oriented.
If you have a console Guitar Hero is by far the most addictive singleplayer game I have ever played.
