Nice build.

I'd be very interested if you could post what you get in 3dmark06 with this system at stock before you mess around with o/c anything. Even better if you can upload your score and post a compare link.

Can you post your "compare link". It will give you a compare link on your project page. It will have a 6 digit number on the end. It allows anyone with a published 3dmark to instantly compare their score against yours. Look for it near the top of your project page.

Blows my aging A8N-E system out of the water. Here's my compare http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=200041

Reason I was interested in your score is because I'm building a new system on Wednesday that is sorta similiar to yours, but I went with the asus hybrid board and I'm just curious how it's gonna compare in the CPU tests against the 965 board. The video tests won't be a fair comparison though as I'm going with 8800 GTS's in SLI.

When I built my system, I tried to color match all my components. I love red boards. You got a nice system. I put about $1500 into mine and my specs are probably less. Then again, I bought a new monitor and I have a few HDD's.

I think I'll upgrade my GPU's and CPU later in the year.

I don't intend this to sound insulting or anything, but a dual core Athlon 64 system with an A8N-E and a 7900GT video cards is not something that I would call aging.  Man, I ran a P4 2.8GHz system with a 9800 Pro video card for over three years as a gaming rig until just a few months ago when I had a new system built.

Now all you have to do is OC your 8800 and you can pull more than 11,400 marks.  I'm assuming your card is at stock?

I see your point and I probably should have chose a better word than "aging". To me though it just isn't cutting it with what I play. In Oblivion with all the mods I run this system can't handle it. Supreme Commander is brought to an absolute crawl unless I turn down all the options. I like to play games on max settings hence why I'm upgrading. The system I have now is capable of playing everything on the market but not at high setttings. What can I say, I'm an upgrade junkie and I end up buying at least a few parts every 6 months.

You may want to rethink your cable management as the ambient room tempatures go up during the summer heat waves. Loose and cluttered cables restrict air flow. Why get such a nice case and fans if you dont care where the air is going? 10 - 20 minutes of your time would improve the air flow quite a bit and when the heat goes up you will notice a difference in temps. Especially with any OC.

That's cool.  It just struck me as a little unreal when I read your original response to the OP but I see what you mean.  Actually a buddy of mine is kind of the same way.  It bugs him if he cannot max out the graphics in a game because he feels he is missing out on the way developers intended the game to really be.  Everybody has their thing with computers I guess.  For me, I'm kind of a neat freak when it comes to my operating system.  I don't like the idea of installing and uninstalling very much stuff on a system, even drivers.  It bugs me to lose that fresh pristine feel of a newly installed operating system with all of the latest drivers and a "clean" install of all my games!

Thats pretty much the system i want but was going with the 8800gts 640 and even that card is insanely priced.

Is there a hugh difference in performance between that one and the gtx?
