I have Steam installed on my D: drive, and also several games installed there. But now, I have only around 500 MB left on D: drive, so I would like to install a couple of Steam games on a different drive. But Steam by deafult installs games in the drive where it is installed. Is there any way to do it? If its not possible, its a real shame. :(

Hmm. That's a good question. I've never tried. I wonder if you'd have to do a second steam client install?

I find it very odd how Steam doesn't offer the feature out of the box especially with solid state drives becoming popular. It's probably the one advantage that Origin has. I would also like to know if anyone knows a quick fix.

Install steam on that harddrive and open steam off the harddrive you want to use. only annoying this is you have to keep switching steam applications depending on what game you want to play

I did it a few weeks ago and go here to get the perfect info

  • Exit the Steam client application.
  • Browse to the Steam installation folder for the Steam installation you would like to move (C:\Program Files\Steamby default).
  • Delete all of the files and folders except theSteamAppsfolder andSteam.exe
  • Cut and paste the whole Steam folder to the new location, for example: D:\Games\Steam\
  • Launch Steam and log into your account.
