can someone tell me how to overclock or give me a link on how to do it
This topic is locked from further discussion.
this is what I used when I was learning how to do it last month. very helpful

Go in the bios raise the fsb if you are on an intel cpu(not i7). That's it...JigglyWiggly_
What he said, its alot easier than you might think, just dont raise voltages too high or you're gonna get alot of heat, an aftermarket cpu cooler is also advisable for more extreme overclocking but not necessarlily needed.
Go to the bios change your fsb. What do you want lol? You increase the fsb to say 400mhz or something. When you determine what you want your fsb to be try a 2.8 ghz ot 3.4 ghz, check if it's stable and if it's not go back to the bios and lower the fsb. Just leave the voltages on auto for now.
Blue screen of death. Hard lock ups with looping sounds, stuff like that.but how will i know if it stable?

Nope, as long as you don't overflow it with voltage. BTW 2.4 ghz is nothing, I had a 2.0 ghz e2200 or something from intel and it came factory stocked at 2.2 ghz I oc'd it to 3.6 ghz on the stock intel prescott cooler(not the one it came with, this is a higher class intel cooler still sucks though). I didn't raise the voltage that much either. Just go for an insane overclock, if it's not stable then go lower. It's the mans way.ok thnx one more thin overclocking it ot like 2.4 do you think it could damage the cpu?

You need to read up more. It's pretty obvious that you haven't done enough research and this isn't something you can just halfass, because if you do you will definitely screw up your computer. zcake22Uhm, overclocking is definitely something you can half ass. I remember when I first got my pentium 4 prescott @ 3.6 ghz, I just got it and I had no idea what I was doing and I got it to 4.2 ghz. Anyway to zahyr, put it at 400 and see how it goes. This will give you a 2.7 ghz overclock. (You will be at 2.7ghz)

Yes, because permanently damaging essential components in your computer is so much fun. You either got lucky or you actually knew more about overclocking than you're willing to admit to.

[QUOTE="zahyr"]lolzcake22How much research have you actually done? I don't want you to end up being one of those people who assumes they know what they're doing after spending only a half hour looking up how to overclock their computer and then ends up frying their CPU. i havent done much research but i didnt overclock it yet
I am a true warrior, I never lie. Overclocking can't damage anything(well you can but very unlikely, hell I've overclocked phones(Which is 10x as dangerous)) if you do not change voltage. Auto will take care of him. That's how I learned to overclock anyway. Sure when you get a bit more extreme you have to play with the voltages a lot and you might even have to do some math with the fsb and it's sub voltages(atleast on my dfi x38 you do). But anyway I got a q6600 @ 4.0 ghz that way and a qx6700 to 3.85 that way. He will be fine. a 2.7ghz overclock is child's play.
Just change the fsb to 400, it will work. I bet 5 bucks :)
i dont know about volatge and overclocking but i found a options in my bios that lets you choose a profile like 10%overclok it can you to 30 % i think il be safer with that or not?zahyrGo for it, but the fsb is a better way I personally think. Just putting the fsb at 400ish and the voltages at auto will give the same effect with more precision.
hey thanks for all your help the both of you and one last thing how can i know how mutch ghz i got now?
i got core speed: 2231.8Mhz
bus speed:325.5Mhz
rated fsb:1282.0Mhz
Metric system :D 2231.8 mhz = 2.2318 ghz :)hey thanks for all your help the both of you and one last thing how can i know how mutch ghz i got now?

from all that I've read, i'm very worried about the stability/temperature of your system...even if it is the smallest OC
The fact you know so little about what you are attempting to do means you shouldnt be doing it without doing quite a bit of research first. As well im assuming your using consumer level parts which will not overclock well to begin withcan someone tell me how to overclock or give me a link on how to do it
zahyr
i ran the test qith realtemp and it got to 80c can i lower the temp by lowring the overclocking to 10%?
