How do I make a Garry's Mod 10 server?

That only me and my friends can play with all the mods I have installed. And don't just do some idiotic ass comment like "Just click Create Multiplayer on main screen" BECAUSE THAT OBVIOUSLY DOESNT WORK AND IF IT DID I WOULDN'T BE ASKING THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE NOW OWULD I!?

I once tried to figure out how to create a Gary's mod server for online play and I failed miserably. The closest I came to being successful was hosting one using hamachi. My friends could see the server, but couldn't join for some reason and eventually we just gave up. The only other option would be to pay someone to host a server and I at least did not want to do that.
