How do I figure out what ramsticks are compatible with my motherboard?

I'm thinking of adding another ram stick, how do I figure out what ramsticks are compatible with my computer?

Go to Crucial.com and let them scan your computer.

or go to the motherboard manufacturers website and look it up.  but the above posters method is easier

another way is to download the program CPUZ once you run it, its sort of like Direct X diagnostic, providing you with information when you go to the memory page it explains what kind of slots you have for example, PC3200 is a type of slot, the kind i have.

In addition to the previous posts, check the motherboard manufacturer's published list of compatible memory. Most manufacturers, such as ASUS and EVGA, offer some guidance for compatibility right down to the brand and model number and - while your motherboard may work with more memory sticks than are listed by its manufacturer - there is additional peace of mind in the buying process. In some instances buying memory from their approved list may also affect your motherboard warranty.
