How do i change my settings to widescreen on PC?

I just bought a new mointor.. its a 19" widescreen HD...

 

I went in to properties and tried to change the resolution but everything just looks like its streched

 

how do i fix that?  what settings do I need to be on?

Sounds like you need to adjust the monitor itself and not in the settings. Try fooling around with the buttons on the monitor.

what i think is that my computer thinks that i still have my old monitor hooked up which was 4:3 and now its 16:9

Install the drivers on the CD that came with the monitor.

Right click anywhere on the desktop. Then go to properties. In properties go to the settings tab. There will be a scroller. Scroll that up to the highest setting. (it should be 1440x900)

I have 1600x900 and 1920x1440 I dont have 1440 x900 I am see if my monitor came a CD and see if they have any drivers

Goto the monitor's manufacturer's website and download the drivers there. The reason why it's not working is because the basic low-level driver doesn't use the unique resolutions.

probobly an nvidia gefore 1 xt edition, pci

use the 1600x900 res. That should be fine.

ohh.. didnt know there was a pc hardware forum.. my badd
