They're hard to compare because they're not really the same kind of game. Homeworld is more of a traditional RTS game where SoaSE is more like a space version of Civilization. I enjoyed the fleet battles of Homeworld but building a galaxy spanning empire in SoaSE is fun. Nice way to satisfy that inner Palpatine we all have inside.
