Hey there,

I got this card recently and its been great... except for some heat issues.

Gigabyte GTX 560

At idle it stays in the lower 40C. However, on load it has gone upto 89C. I think this is a bit too high for a card that has a custom cooler.

My room temp is about 30c.

Any advise on what i should do? i have added some extra fans but failed to lower the temps.

my only gripe is the max temp. Even with the fan at 100% it fails to keep the card cooler at around 70-75C.

any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

You could download & install MSI Afterburner, which would allow you to set your own profile for GPU fan speeds. How does it look inside your case? Are the case fans dusty? 89 is high, but the card can take up to 99.

Your fans are spinning the right way, yes?

Seems a bit high i guess but it can handle 89c, it surely won't melt. Your room temp is 30c? That's very high imo and i think you should lower it to at least 25, my room is 20-22c.

How can you live with 30 degrees innertemp? :P I have around 18 degrees. Though I guess you live somewhere much warmer. I'd say those temps when compared to your room temperature are quite normal.

I got the readings from afterburner. the case fans aren't dusty. i've cleaned them recently.

Yes, its warmer down here. The humidity is the worst though :P i live in south asia so the tempreature is around 26-30 throughout the year.

I'm thinking of removing the heatsink to make sure thermal paste is applied correctly by the factory. is it a good idea?

You need to have a good airflow set up in your case. Heat rises. A card without a backplate/plate in general is going to increase the ambient temperature in the case quite a bit.

Re-apply thermal paste would be the thing i'd do. Hope your 560 isn't in a Dell case from BestBuy :P

you might have the cooler circuit of the case wrong, or just a bad ventilation in it. other option is your psu. it might be completelly loaded, that could cause temperature in both the gpu and the cpu.

I'm in the SE US. I'm not sure which is worse, the heat and humidity, or the onslaught of mosquitos every night =\ But have you considered liquid cooling? That's how I keep my components cool when it's 100+ outside...
