Im about to get a full blown super computer to play all the next gen style games and was ondering about monitors. For example I have seen D.I.R.T. on a 360 on a HD TV and it looked amazing so to get the same effect is there a HD monitor that you can buy or will it look juss stunning on a normal monitor as it does on a HD TV.

Monitors have been HD for about 10 years now. So have PC games. Yes it'll look just as impressive.

But if all you care about is size, then why dont you just plug in the PC to the HDTV and play it that way?

HD is just a marketing gimmick. PCs have been ''HD'' for over a decade.

Unless you like to see things bigger, or have a really bad quality monitor (and a good quality HDTV) it will look exactly the same.

You talking about PowerCharged? "PCs are not backwards compatible. PC gaming is not in HD." I want a link to that post so I can see the resulting ownage. There's another person known as wok7 who said something like "X360 and PS3 come HD ready with no hassle, but how come we never hear of the PC doing 1080p or 720 or 480 anything?" That comes across as more uninformed and less bashing in nature, at least to me.

That monitor is big but since it's so big it's response time is horrible. Somewhere around 12ms. Even movies have ghosting on it, I can't imagine how much there would be in games.

I just picked up the samsung 226bw 22 inch monitor. It's got a 2ms response time, 1680x1050 resolution and awesome picture. At around 320 bucks it's fanfreakingtastic for gaming... zero ghosting.

Yeah, but who of us here even have a video card powerful enough to output current PC games with everything max'd at 1920x1080....

(let alone a monitor that can display above 1600x1200)

Quick lesson on LCDs: 12ms = 83.33 updates per second (max) Even on the most powerful hardware, modern games don't usually run at 80+ frames per second, and this number exceeds the refresh rate of most LCDs anyway. You won't see any ghosting on a 12ms (gray-to-gray) LCD (if it actually is 12ms, of course). Furthermore, most

Got a link to the thread where he posted that? On another note, I haven't seen any PowerCharged posts lately. Did he get the TwinBlade105/HALO2xpert/etc. treatment? (In other words, perma-banning.)
