I would suggest the GTX295 for the best performance, but I personaly would never buy a card that expensive just to play Crysis and GTA4. I've heard GTA4 is more CPU intensive anyway, I don't know how much a better GPU would help

Definitely the 295. It looks like even more of a monster than my GTX 260 :o (btw... higher numbers = better performance, usually)

if you only want to play better than a 9800 gtx then the GTX285 will give you a good enoughperformance increase.

I would go with the overclocked version of the GTX285. Will be enough at that resolution for high.

For the extra money it costs I don't think you will see that much of a performance increase between the 285 and 295. But if money is no object then just go for the 295. You are likely to get better results on Crysis since GTA just isn't optimised well for PC

Don't get either. DX11 is coming out this fall as is the GTX 300. Wait for it.

I didn't really like the performance difference between the 8 series and 2 series. 3 series might give the double performance of the 8 series I've been looking for. :D

Basically I want to be able to play crysis all the way through the Whole game at 1920x1200 with all on high. my current setup is playable at 1920x1200 but i have to lower everything to medium when you get to the ship and the ice levels. If a single 285 is enough then ill be happyI mostly play MMO's anyway going to get a 1000w thermaltake toughpower to supply one of these badass cards

I play at 1680x1050 very high all the way except the snow levels where I play on high and get 30+ FPS. I am using XFX4870 1GIG XXX. An overclocked GTX285 will get you minimum 10 FPS more than me. I am thinking on all high at that rez you could breeze through.

I would get a GTX285 just because it's a single GPU.

The GTX 295 basically amounts the same as two 260's in SLi, mechanically and performance-wise. They trade here and there due to differences in memory bandwidth and clock speeds, but yea... The GTX 285 is a revised version of the GTX 280; it's also received a fair bump in clock speeds at the factory, which would put it as the fastest NVIDIA single-GPU card you can buy. Yes, an overclocked 280 could reach the same performance in games as the 285, but the 285 is also made to require less power than the standard 280; the 280 would need a 6 and 8-pin PCI-E power lead into it, while the 285 only needs two 6-pin PCI-E leads into it. For Crysis, you'll want something with at least 1GB of RAM; for GTA4, you want something with 2GB of vRAM... which currently counts all of the GTX 2** series cards out. The only (fairly) high-end GPU's that can be had with 2GB of vRAM now is the GTS 250, and not all manufacturers will make like that. But, it's been confirmed; a 2GB GTS 250 will actually run GTA4 on High fine; granted, it might not have the horsepower to run at super high resolutions by itself , but it actually can run with textures maxed.

Do not get the 295. I heard it has the same microstuttering problems as the 9800 GX2. I have a GX2 and the microstuttering is so bad it makes me sick. I would get a 285 if I could right now..

i hope it don't microstutter, but if it does I would send back the 295 and get XFX overclocked 285.

Yes. The RAM doesn't add together. It is like 2 x 896MB but not added so only 896MB is really available..
