any particular reason you want to do this change? In my opinion the only advantage wireless will give you is the ability take a laptop around the house. With wireless you will loose throughput and so in that sense its a downgrade.

If you only have 1 router and you're pc's are not very close together like in my house it's easy

Or if you have have 4 computers, 2 psps, 2 DS, 1 Wii, 1 PS3, and an Xbox 360 like in my apartment it's a neccessity. Not all of them can use the cables, not only that but there are issues with running cables through 3 rooms everything becomes such a hassle. Sure if everyone had a 1 room setup no problem. Unforutnately not everyone can live in such a perfect setup. I sure as heck aint' gettin off to porn in the living room. That's for sure.

wow "upgrading" man going wireless is downgrading

you will get a higher in ping in pc gaming and notice lag

think of it like this

when you have wired all the packets and information being sent to other computers is not losing any info on its way its like its going one way tunnel and th info know what its doing and ther is no interference that will stop it...the road is usually guiding it.

yet if you go wireless

theres no cables just a signal so think of it like this :P

the info and packets are like trying to fin its way and using a map and some info can get lost while on the road so you will notice lag

its my silly way of explaining it but it gets the job done

no reason to change if you already have a wired set up without problems in it. Or if you looking for laptop mobility/ psp like above users said.

Wire for those that can use it, and wireless for those that don't need the advantage. That's the best method to go with. Your gaming computer shoud be directly connected via cable. Everything else can go wireless.

please be warned..

wireless is absolute **** for multiplayer gaming. it puts too much load on it or something, my wireless ALWAYS drops out for a few seconds during play, does it frequently too. in CS:Source, COD4, Battlefield 2142, whatever. loses connection then comes back in, doesnt drop the server or anythign, just gets massive lag spikes and stutters. usually when there is a massive scene change, which doesnt help when some hero charges you, then you lose connection/lag, then get back and you've been knifed.

if your wired connection is fine, dont change.

It is true don't do the wireless thing cause I'm wireless and my Mom's pc isnt so I'm 27' to far from my weak router and so that makes me unable to play online games if I wanted to and I'm unable to watch streaming videos like trailers and that sort of stuff.

So in my opion and others stick with what you have cause I'm thinking worse case senario I'll run a wire to her routher and hook it up to hers and so I'll just have to run it on the cieling or on the wall some how. Don't want to run it on the ground I may fall over it or my dog might chew on it. Shoot I can't even play my xbox 360 online and I got it on Christmas as of last year. SO STICK WITH wired router.

Stupid question but what do you mean by wired? I've a second computer that's about 15-20' from PC with RoadRunner connection (actually buying new so haven't bought it yet) and figured my only option was a G or N Router/Adapter. I was under the impression that to "splice" the cable line would considerably weaken the signal and create all sorts of problems. Since the RR cable is already run to the other PC/room, what should I do?
