Depends. What games are you trying to run and what problems are you having? They just might not be supported. Have you tried running them in XP mode? I personally only have Battlefield 2 and Sins installed, and I haven't had any problems, but I think BF 2 ran a little slower then on XP.

Right now Halo 1 and warcraft 3 :) Im getting an error saying i dont have direct x but im positive i have it installed. Is there some sort of special Windows 7 version of direct x because i just downloaded 9 off the microsoft website.

Well, I'm not really sure. Best thing I can advise you to do is search Microsofts site (and google) on how to run games in compatability mode in Windows 7, and searching to see if there is a specific DirectX for Windows 7 (which I don't think there is) or for DirectX problems in Windows 7. Also try reinstalling your DirectX, or let the game install it. Like if you have a more recent game, install that and at the end it will install DirectX for you.

yah i think i heard direct x10 and direct x9 are 2 different installs. so if you upgrade your dx10 you also need to upgrade dx9 but if you have windows 7, your dx9 should already be up to date. most likely there's something wrong with the games they just don't like windows 7

I can see Windows not liking Warcraft but Halo? That seems like a game they would attempt to support.

What version of Windows 7 do you have? Compatibility issues (if that's your problem) may be resolved in the release candidate which should go public soon.

I think what Bluebird meant was, what build number? Is it x86 or x64? Also, is it fully up to date at Windows Update? Halo should work under Windows 7. Do you have the most recent Halo patch?

Do you think that would be the problem? Im still almost certain its something to do with Direct x not installing properly since my games install ok.

Confirmed (for me at least)...

Assassin's Creed (Steam)

Team Fortress 2 (Steam)

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 (Steam)

Portal (Steam)

King's Bounty: The Legend

Guild Wars

Drakensang

Far Cry 2

Fallout 3

Gothic 3

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Pretty much all the games I am currently playing/own. And might I add they run just as good if not better than they did in Vista. Which is a good thing. :)

It depends what games.... I've been running GTA4, Fallout 3 and other Steam games just fine.
