Hey guys I have a question. My friend wants a really long game but all the recommendations I made he didn't want to try. He won't play ME2 or 1 and has Dragon Age already. Any recommendations? *Note it can be multiplayer but no more shooters because he is sort of burnt out on them. I'm not that knowledgable of PC games so I need help to recommend something for him.

Hmmm, can try getting him into some RTS? Some Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, or Total War series comes to mind. Just going to assume you are not looking for MMO, so gonna throw that out. Street Fighter IV is pretty fun, all I can really think of that strays away from FPS multiplayer. As far as single player, does he have the Witcher? If not that sounds like a must-buy.

The Witcher Though I find the combat tedious and repetitive, the game does take a while to get through and the story is fairly entertaining. Have your friend get the EE (Enhanced Edition) version of the game. He could pick up The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Game of the Year edition).....though I'd only recommend this if he's a decent RPG fan since the fighting system is based off of hidden rolls and not actual contact made. It's a bit difficult for some people to appreciate. The game is huge, tons of mods - just the Morrowind game and the two expansions are enough to keep you occupied for countless hours. There's also The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This is more geared towards a console type game on the PC (you can get it on 360 and PS3 if I remember), however a lot of the downfalls of the game can be fixed up in player mad mods. The game can last a long time if you venture around a lot to explore and take on side missions, or you can power through the main story in about 8 hours or so.

Baldurs Gate 2 or Neverwinter Nights 1/2 . Ofc those are old games so tolerance for old graphics is a must.

I would also recommend Oblivion. I've got almost 100hrs under my belt and I've still got a TON to do. Of course, I'm using the Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (OOO) mod. I still have around 50%+ to go for faction/guild quests; I've only got 2 of the 20+ deadric artifacts; tons of sidequests yet finished/started and yet discovered; and I can only assume 10% of the main quest done.

Well, if you don't want shooters, it's as others have said - without question, Oblivion. I've had my copy for 3 months (not playing the Orange Box to get past overdose of Role Playing, but I'll come back to it someday), and even fir that ammount of time, I've hardly done anything. There's just so much to do. Even when that's done, you have the expansion, Shiovering Isles (which is different, but fun) and a multitude of player-made mods. Trust me, it lasts as long as you want it to.

long epic game, hmm from games I used to play I can recommend on Fallout 3, Oblivion, Gothic 3, Risen - all good RPGs, from games I currently playing Borderlands can get pretty much epic at few moments playing with or without friends co-op

For RTS anything out of the Total War series will last a long time, especially with great replay value. Turn based he could try Civ IV, again a time eater. Or for more of an RPG like others have suggested Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3

Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate (2 in particular) and Icewind Dale games are pretty long.

Don't listen to people who say Oblivion - the main quest can be completed in a few hours and most of the side quests are something you'd find in a MMO (kill X monsters, explore dungeon Y, which is similar to every other dungeon in the world, etc.)

why do you have that article in your sig? I could go and write an article arguing the opposite and be just as correct, only difference is that I dont believe negativity belongs here.

If he is okay with older games, Fallout and Fallout 2. They are still two of the best RPGs of all time, and are both superior to Bethesda's Oblivion-With-Guns.

The witcher and vampire the masquerade: bloodlines would be my picks, also CoH and DoW (1 or 2, does not really matter).

Man I should be payied by those devs, with all the advertising I do for them :s
