Hello guys I'm really struggling to play most my games now after a new monitor was added.

My rig:

AMD FX 8320 3.5hz with 4.0hz turbo 8 core

8 GB ram DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 270x 2GB

2TB HDD 7200RPM

GA-78LMT S2P motherboard.

I don't know the exact name of my old monitor as i got it second hand but it was a Asus 22 inch an the new monitor is a 24inch AOC G2460FQ. I upgraded as this monitor has 1ms an 144hz an wanted a better playing experience especially for cs go. But for all my games I've lost a lot of FPS an some games are now unplayable like Dayz standalone and arma. I've lost About 130 or so frames on cs go an around 20-30 on dayz and arma. I've tried switching the new monitor back to 60hz but made no or very little difference. I have to also mention I've only been PC gaming for around 3 months so I'm very noob an won't understand most of you're pc words so please explain clearly. Has anyone had this or got a solution to this please?

Thanks in advance.

Well there could be a couple of things but I'm not sure any of them explain such a drastic drop. For one your new monitor may be a higher resolution (1080p) than your old one (possibly 1050p or less) so your graphics card might be working harder. You might also try to update your graphics card drivers at AMD's driver download page.

@Chatch09:

Ok i was wrong, my old monitor is 1680 x 1050 and my new one is 1920 x 1080 so i guess the higher resolution is causing a problem but would it have this much affect on my graphic card? Its not even like my new monitor is crystal clear like the old one was.

Yes. That's a large jump in resolution. There were games my GTX 460 could easily handle at 1680x1050 that it struggled with at 1080p or 1200p. If you want better FPS, you're going to need a better video card. The 270 is a budget card.

I understand my cards not the best , but I've been hearing that it shouldn't be making as much as a difference than it is, I've been googling it all day an cant seem to find nothing other than a graph made up from AMD of the difference in FPS goin from my old res to my new res with a much older graphic card an showed not much change at all from the upgrade in res. an that was on crisis 3 witch i hear is pretty intensive for performance? I don't know.
