Surprised they're making 64bit a requirement. I guess with those memory specs they need to, but still. That's going to throw a lot of folks.

In total there is 5GB of (V)RAM required so they need higher than 32bit for that. Plus who uses 32 bit systems these days?

I don't get why the connection needs to be that high. Surely less than 5Mbps would be enough?

Hoping that's for downloading of the game itself. I can't imagine actual gameplay needing that kind of bandwidth. If it does, leaves me out. I have the speed, but bandwidth caps in my area.

@wg_mcfartypants: Seeing as how the world needs to be updated for every client on a real time basis as fast as possible or lots of visual glitches will occur, such as seeing other players in the ground on your screen but on their screen they just carved a nice big hole, I'm not surprised of the internet requirement. It is an MMO afterall, even Landmark is an MMO where you have to run around and find a spot to claim first before starting to build. The tech needed to have an MMO that utilizes voxels for everything is quite demanding.

I'm excited for the game, but I'm pretty sure the performance is gonna piss me off at some point. I do recall at some point they were showing gameplay and you could tell the framerate was dipping very low, around 10-20fps.

The only ones I know have a 32 bit system are those who haven't got rid of their computer from pre-2007 or so... I haven't even seen an advertisement for 32bit systems in the last 2-3 years.

I used to play a lot of EQ2 and was amazed at how many people were running computers so old it wasn't funny and complaining every time a new expansion came along that improved anything because it made the game harder to play.

I'm not saying that it's a good thing, just that it is.

Its a MMO... I don't trust the spec's. My GTX 780 Ti and i5 4670K get whooped at 2560x1080 while playing MMO's like Rift, Guild Wars 2 and Neverwinter.

I can't wait to play it. I recently started new characters in Rift and Tera.

Well, if that 10 MBit requirement is true and isn't changed. I will not be able to play this game, my internet connection speed barely meets half the requirements and back at my parents home I wouldnt be surprised if it is lower than 4 MBit/sec

I can see why it is so tough though, being a voxel based mmo.

Sometimes people have to realise they need to upgrade their equipment to enjoy games. The old family computer with P4 processor and ATI X1600XT doesn't meet the lowest specs of almost any game today and that doesn't surprise me at all.

10Mb/s broadband? tis witchcraft.

my internet connection entails printing out the packets, sending them to the local internet provider by post, waiting a few days for the packets to be returned (if they have to go around the world it can take weeks) and then inputting the returned packets by hand. its measured in bits per week :S. still the best internet available to me.

Note: this message was created on the 14th of Jan 2014. The time displayed by gamespot is just the time they got it to put up :P.

I still don't think it needs 10Mbps to run... just the devs being cautious.

Heck, Minecraft doesn't need that much and it's a building game too isn't it?
