I played the demo a few times. It is certainly a decent game and provides a real challenge. Also I don't think there are many other games like this or fantasy wars. If I were not into so many others games I would have bought it by now. I'm just a little over the fantsy games.

I never played the other game you mentioned but Elven Legacy is pretty decent if you like strategy games. And yeah, it can get pretty damn hard for sure so you better be up for a challenge.

Played it at a friend's house. Kind of a mix between Age of Wonders and Heroes of Might and Magic. Its a good strategy game, but it is brutally unforgiving. You have almost no room for error and the loss of a single (non-mission critical unit) could result in a loss simply because he was holding a vital point at the time.

Played it long time back, but from what I remember it is pretty much the same as Fantasy Wars besides stuff like new heroes/abilities/units etc. Some minor differences are that the difficult level of Elven Legacy was lesser but those of the expansion were higher than it. Expansions were a little better due to bit better quest structure but by the time you finish one or two of them it feels like you are doing the same thing over and over again.

I've played it, fun game though it has to be your thing. I never found it terribly hard though it doesn't forgive stupidity as other games do. Easy it a good starting place though and you can work your way up from there.

Yeah, I agree that if you are new to the genre then start on easy. If you have played lots of games like the Panzer games then you can start on higher difficulties.
