I played Oblivion for a while and honestly I really didn't like playing it in first-person. I have never really been a fan of first-person games, and this was no different. I like being able to see the character, plus the physics of first-person games always seemed really weird, how when you jump, only the y-value of your position changes and not any of the pitch-roll-yaw stuff. I suppose firing arrows in third-person mode was pretty difficult, so i'd have to switch to that everytime before I just decided I didn't like using ranged combat in the first place. So yeah, do you play it first-person or third-person mostly?

First person is the only way to go when in combat or dungeons or whenever I want to feel like I'm the character.

Third person is for when you want to admire your character's armor, or that face you spent 3 hours wringing out of the crappy editor; or if you just feel like messing around.

First-person, since Bethesda really, really suck at animations. The game looked ridiculous in third-person most of the time.

Third person. But I zoomed it in just enough so I did not have to watch those horrible w+d strafing animations. You think they would have fixed them when they made Fallout 3 right?

First person, unless I feel like admiring my character or changing it up for a bit. But I've always been a FPS guy, not to mention an Elder Scrolls guy.

To be honest they only put third person in so you can look at enviroment and its better when your not in combat, if they wanted it for combat they would have made an auto-aim feature for bows or whatever. 1st person is the view they want you to use for actual combat and its been that way since Elders Scrolls turned 3D.

Well I'm playing Fallout 3 right now which is pretty much the same engine as Oblivion and I prefer first person for the very reason you prefer third. The animations in third seem really akward and off-balance, I do zoom out occasionally when I get new armor and stuff but for killing enemies I think first person is more effective.

First person bud, the third person jump animation is very insulting to look at.

First person because I always use a bow.

I do use third person when riding my horse. I find it easier to see where you're going.

The third-person mode was only useful for showing off your armour and taking screenshots. The gameplay felt really clunky unless you were playing in first person (then again, the gameplay wasn't great in either mode :P).

This is the truth. Running in third person is so static and ugly.

First person as well. The animations are just that ankward in third person, i had a good laugh about the jump animation in particular which looks like a copy and paste from morrowind.

Third-person. IMO, I much prefer third-person view compared to first-person view. Infact, most times I won't even play a game if it's only in first-person view. Although Bioshock was an excellent first-person game.

I personally play it in first person because it more comfy to know where to jump or hit and since the game company bethesda sucks at it graphics it bad. And BTW i have a great graphic card it still laggs like hell when i fight but when i play far cry 2 full graphics it doesnt? strange companys

First - more immersion... plus third person is too clunky for my tastes.

The 3rd person camera is so crap inside and the character models so ugly in the vanilla game that I play in 1st person. However, with a few mods + playing outside, I like to play in 3rd for an old-style RPG feel.

I mainly use 1st person. However, if I feel like switching it up, i'll use 3rd. I also modded my character animations, so 3rd person isn't too bad anymore.

First-person. I can't stand the terrible animations in third person. They should take a note from Crytek. I played Crysis in the third person the other day and I had to marvel on how good it looks in third person.

The third person animations are so awkward that it completely ruins the immersion in Oblivion.

Not with mods, it doesn't. ;) When I'm in the open world, I prefer 3rd person. In dungeons, 1st person.
