Like, I can't just connect my PC unit to my TV? If so, that blows and means I'll have to buy a monitor. I thought I could save my self the couple hundred by hooking up my PC unit right to my TV with an HD AUDIO cable, but from videos I'm seeing I need an actual monitor in order to set up my PC for my TV...

I use a 24" 1080p TV as the monitor in my den. My kid has a similar set up in her bedroom. My other PC in the family room is hooked up to a 39" 1080p TV. My wife's Mac Mini is hooked up to a 42" 1080p TV in the master bedroom.

We haven't bought a new monitor since 2006.

Although I use HDMI on all the connections above, I still use my Logitech Z2300 2.1s in the den. The rest have their audio piped to the TV through HDMI.

You use your Television instead of a monitor - that is the point.

I also have my PS3 and my PS2 hooked up to the same television that is connected to my PC tower.

I can move any of them to the family room and connect to the other TV if and when I desire.

When i built my brothers computer i needed a monitor, not sure why.

After everything was ready it connected to the HDTV no problem.

Just try it without a monitor, maybe you will have better luck.

A TV is a big monitor with large pixels, plus a tv tuner. So yes.

When I first built my PC, I didn't have any extra cash for a monitor so I used my TV. I just made sure my graphics card had an HDMI output so I could easily set it up. The display wasn't amazing. It was only a 720p TV, but it made do until I could afford a 1080p monitor.
