I had great times using all the different mods but I still felt Skyrim was a dull game at times if it wasn't for the mods I would have quit the game long ago.

Mods are great but would have played it nearly as long without them, game is excellent.

This. Once I started modding I realized I couldn't live without some of them.

I avoided any mods that could change gameplay balance like new weapons, spells, abilities, etc. I do enjoy some of the graphical mods, along with a mod that marks books as read. Overall, though, I found the game to be fine without them.

vanilla skyrim was an amazing game on its own, mods just enhanced the experience.

most of the mods I add don't really add new content, just make what is already there better.

Yeah, same. That's how I mod all my games. Just improve what's already there. Textures, menus etc.

Yes very much so, I wasn't really fan of the ruff looking women in vanilla skyrim.

Mods brings more choice and falvor to games which is why I think more games should support em :)

I put in about 50 hours before heavy modding, now I'm about 220 hours in and still not remotely finished.  I make my own mods as well

Barely.

I do not wish to undermine the work of modders.but compared to the legendary mods available for oblivion(Better Citiesby bananasplit,Unique Landscapes Compilation,Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul,to name a few...),the ones available for skyrim are very disappointing.

Without mods - 8.5/10 and good for only 1 playthrough. With mods - 9.5/10 and good for many playthroughs.

mods added flavor to skyrim I got bored real fast with the game but unless they add a bunch of better quest mods it only slightly improved it

I played vanilla Skyrim on the 360 for about 40 hours it was still fun, then put around 60 hours into Skyrim on the PC with mods from steam workshop and nexus mods which were pretty amazing to mess around with.

I didn't bother with mods. I played it vanilla for about 70 hours before I got bored.

I modded the crap out of Oblivion. I assume that I'll be doing it to this game. Already have a few mods installed.

TheFadeForever

absolutely 100% yes they did. in fact i can't play skyrim without the mods because the game is so ugly (without them) it's unbelievable.

if you're PC can't do ENB then try these (all together) instead.

-hi rez texture pack 1, 2 and 3

-true skyrim

-skyrim urwl

-pure waters

-lanterns of skyrim

the texture mod and the 4 environment mods make the game look AMAZING. for non-ENB modding (on slower machines), this was the best mix bar none, and i tired all of them. if my laptop wasa little bit faster i would also be running towns and villages enhanced mods as well.

I modded Oblivion to hell and back, because I found the vanilla game a bit bland. With Skyrim, I've been much more conservative; no anime catgirls and chainmail bikini armours this time. Still, mods have made a lot of difference. Better Vampires made playing a Vampire a lot more fun, for example.

They prolong the game but most mods don't improve the gameplay or the quests. I can think of maybe a dozen mods which actually made the game better out of hundreds I"ve tested.

Yes. Hell yes. Open world games are meant to be modded one way or the other.

The vanilla game stands up on its own. I played it for about 80hrs before modding anything. I havent really bothered to mod it to the extent I did with Oblivion, a game I really didnt like except for messing around with mods.
