DayZ stuck at waiting for host

So i bought ArmA and installed the dayz mod and when i try to join a server its stuck at waiting for host and i cannot figure out why, any idea's?

That's a common problem with servers if they're restarting or updating etc. or if the main game is down on most servers you will be stuck at that screen. Best bet is to try another server and keep going until you get in, it's annoying sometimes but you'll get there eventually.

I was stuck on that screen for a half hour before talking to other players

I think Crysis 2 had a similar problem. Not been on there in ages so I can't tell you if and how they fixed it.

Make sure you're joining a server that is the same client version as you are.

You need to be running the beta patch.

9/10 servers work fien for me but usually 1 out of every 10 I try to enter it wont work. I just join another one if that happens.

Aren't most servers are running the latest so you need it?

Welcome to DayZ. Make sure the latest beta patch is downloaded and verify all the Arma 2 games through Steam.

That should iron out all the problems you're having.
