So yeeeah, I decided to check SpeedFan tonight to see how cool my computer is running. Scared the sh*t out of me when I saw how hot the CPU was. I built this computer back in November so I don't think the thermal paste or heatsink could have possibly worn out by now. I have a Sandy Bridge CPU by the way.

It's an error. Your computer would have shut down long before it ever reached that temperature.

Should I try a program besides SpeedFan then? Cause the CPU temperature hasn't moved at all the entire time I've had the program up. Not even when I maxed out all of the fans.

Yeah that CPU Gadget doesn't tell you the temp. I downloaded CoreTemp and every core is at sub 50 degrees celsius. Problem solved I guess :P

Yep sounds like an error to me too. Try HW Monitor and see what that says.

impossible i think for your cpu to be that hot if its just sitting there running a temp monitor program. even without any kind of heatsink on it...

but if it is that hot, i wonder if you could cook something on it

Of course. Try using another application like HW Monitor, CoreTemp, and so forth. There's plenty out there that are more reliable and give pretty accurate readings. Cheers.

Bros! The problem was solved a while ago! haha. SpeedFan was giving out false readings so I installed CoreTemp. Every core of the CPU is running at sub 50 degrees. I appreciate the help guys :D
