And if so the 29.95 download from direct2drive or is the boxed version better?

thanks everyone

How it'll run

And I'd recommend the boxed version so you can get the GOTY version which comes with the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansion packs. Not sure if theres a D2D version that has that too.

I agree. The game's worth playing without the expansions, but they make it at least twice as fun. Plus, I'd recommend going to Bethesda's Oblivion website and downloading the mods. They're like $2-3 each and really add to the game.

I'm pulling a nice framerate with an athlon 64 3200+ 2.0GHz, 1.0GB RAM and an 8600GT at high settings 1024x768 4x AA...since you have the high end ofthat series, you *should* be able to run at around those settings, looks great. As for download or boxed, I'd recommend you get the boxed version. It may be just me, but I prefer having the case and CD around to add to my collection. You also get collectors edition content with the GOTY edition. You get a pocket guide the the empire, or maybe the imperial city, eh, I dont remember, a septim, which is the currency in oblvion, which is a golden coin, and a "Making Of Oblivion" CD, and maybe some other stuff. I dont know for sure, but I think I remember seeing that at gamestop.com. You should check it out first though.

you should be able to run it fine, but you can probably find it cheaper that D2D. I'm not in the US but I got a bargain from my local GAME store.

the game ran nicely on my P4 2.8GHz, 1GB memory, and 6600GT (128MB card!) so it should run fine on yours. I played it at 1024xx768 with medium high detail.

Yes, Oblivion is a good game. I think you could find the boxed version for cheaper, though. Maybe even a "deluxe" edition for 40 bucks that includes Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.
