Alright I made a picture to simplify this.

I can provide a link to what I will be using if needed.

Would this work?

Thanks.

dvi to hdmi cable, and optical cable to a reciever. Boxcutters

you just dont get it, the HDMI, VGA, DVI connections on the back of laptops are outputs only, meaning they only output signals. they are not inputs meaning they recieve a signal, so your DVI to HDMI cable would be pointless and do nothing.

As stated before you would need to use a tv tuner card that had an input but most likley it would be a composite connection.
