Read your graphics card manual. With some you'll have to connect a separate wire to the motherboard to get a TV connection to work. Mine does.

If you have a non-HDTV (480i), forget about it. Any monitor will have a higher resolution.

if it has a vga/dvi port it is easy otherwise you will need to get a svideo or composite cable. Any dedicated gpu has svideo output.

You are going to be playing at 720x480 if you are going to use an s-video cable, you won't be able to see your desktop properly. I'd forget it, only do it when you have a 720p hdtv minimum, I only recommend it on 1080p tvs.

Don't use a TV with a PC that has a resolution under 1280 x 720 (720p) - on an "SDTV" you will not be able to read your desktop, let alone take advantage of your PC's performance while playing games.

Agreed. If your TV is not HD (1280 x 720 or higher) don't even bother.
